Animations Fiesta is a celebration of 5 talented animators and their films. Short animation is a unique and quite lyrical genre, sometimes condensing whole stories and deep emotions into several minutes, sometimes entertaining us with a simple, joyful narrative. Like poetry, it relies on the audience to relate, to take part, to be involved in the artistic process.
We have curated a selection of short films to introduce some emerging and established artists to our audiences.
They each use a variety of media, techniques, and styles, and their themes range from a touching story of a lost child to an everyday chore reimagined as a colourful dance.
We will introduce the films and artists to you over the next 2 weeks over social media and will have the details of how to watch the films on our website soon. On May 27 we will be joined by two of the animators who will be interviewed about the process of animation, their ideas, and answer questions.
To learn more and try your hand at this exciting genre, join our Animation Studio (also on Zoom). The first morning will introduce many kinds of animation, explaining the different processes. This will be followed by a chance to experiment with doing your own animation, learning new skills and developing old ones. Led by animator-illustrator Maral Kerovpyan, Animation Studio will run on May 23 and May 30 from 10:00 - 12:30.
